Overview
Department: Clinical Lab
Location: 7435 W Talcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60631
Responsibilities
Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, responsibilities listed under CFR 493.1425 and 493.1495.
Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and correct the issue or notify the supervisor, Director, or Medical Director.
Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines introduced into the laboratory.
Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed.
Review accuracy of patient results prior to release or reporting.
Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested similarly to patient samples and report results to appropriate agencies.
May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics.
Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
Adhere to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
May serve as Lead Tech in absence of a supervisor, responsible for the section or department during shift.
May have responsibilities related to LIS and/or POCT.
Perform other tasks as assigned by department manager/director.
Qualifications
ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
Current and valid state license if required in the state of the laboratory.

Pay Transparency Salary range: $26.75 to $38.74 per hour (estimate). Final compensation package determined at hiring, considering skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
