Nurse Specialist - Otolaryngology? Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Thyroid Oncology
Location:
Northbrook, IL
Employment Type:
Full‑Time (40 hours per week)
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; flexible and onsite when physicians are in clinic; remote during OR; flexible days after intro period.
Required Travel:
Will need to travel to Evanston, Skokie, and Lake Bluff sites (travel between two sites in a 1‑week period).
License:
Current professional Nursing licensure in Illinois.
Education:
BSN required.
Certification:
BLS/CPR required.
Experience:
3 years of nursing experience in an office or hospital setting required; oncology experience preferred.
What You Will Do:
Function as a subject expert and/or program coordinator providing nursing care to patients within Head & Neck Cancer and Thyroid division.
Provide nursing assessment to patient condition and evaluate follow-up needs.
Coordinate patient plan of care with multidisciplinary Kellogg Cancer Care Center, medical and radiation oncologists, and physician assistants.
Provide health education for patients and families regarding benign and malignant cancers.
Collaborate on planning/problem‑solving solutions while working directly with Head & Neck oncologist, thyroid specialist, and physician assistant.
Clinical management of patients as directed by the physician, including nurse triage, ensuring prior relevant work‑up results obtained, pre‑charting, post‑operative calls, DME, and FMLA.
