Canus Resources is seeking a hands‑on Autonomy Validation Engineer to support validation and testing of large autonomous heavy‑equipment systems. The role involves field‑based testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis in a rugged outdoor environment. Ideal candidates are passionate about autonomous systems and enjoy working directly with machines in real‑world conditions.
Testing & Validation (Approx. 50%)
Plan, organize, and execute machine tests for autonomous vehicle systems in field conditions
Coordinate test activities with operators and engineering teams
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues during tests
Document issues and support root‑cause analysis
Office & Data Analysis (Approx. 50%)
Collaborate with software development and system engineering teams to review test results
Update and maintain test plans, procedures, and validation documentation
Perform data extraction, visualization, and analysis to support system performance evaluation
Participate in customer demonstrations and gather end‑user feedback
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software domains
Hands‑on testing or validation experience on vehicle or machine systems
Working knowledge of Windows; familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu preferred
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
Experience with data analysis tools (Python, Excel, MATLAB, or similar)
Excellent problem‑solving, time‑management, and communication skills
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently on second shift and coordinate with global teams
Preferred Backgrounds
Autonomous systems R&D or validation (perception, planning, positioning)
Automotive validation with on‑vehicle testing exposure
Heavy machinery or off‑highway equipment experience (mining, construction, agriculture)
Validation engineers with strong system‑level exposure are encouraged to apply
Candidate Profile
Open to early‑career and experienced engineers with the right attitude and aptitude
Must be enthusiastic about autonomous vehicle technology and field testing work
Physically fit to operate in outdoor environments and handle equipment safely
