Life Science Research Professional 1 – SCI (OnSite) We invite you to apply for the Life Science Research Professional 1 position within the Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI). This role is based on campus in Stanford, California and offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with leading scientists on cutting‑edge mass‑spectrometry, proteomics, metabolomics, and computational biology projects that advance therapeutics for aging, metabolic disease, and cancer.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute molecular biology experiments, including genetic and pharmacological interventions in mammalian cell culture.

Perform functional assays, animal experiments, and data acquisition for proteomics, metabolomics, and computational analyses.

Maintain detailed experiment records and generate analyses reports.

Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals.

Collaborate with graduate students, post‑doctoral researchers, and faculty to design and optimize protocols.

Provide lab support: manage inventory, maintain safety records, and help orient new laboratory members.

Contribute to the overall progress of the lab’s research agenda and contribute to scientific publications.

Participate in optional training and professional development activities.

Desired Qualifications

Strong background in organic or medicinal chemistry.

Proficiency in bioinformatics and machine‑learning tools.

Expertise in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, CRISPR, transfection, etc.).

Experience with mass‑spectrometry–based proteomics and metabolomics (preferred).

Animal handling and in‑vivo physiology experience (preferred).

Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field; advanced degrees or substantial research experience will strengthen your application.

Education & Experience (required) Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required)

Solid foundation in scientific principles and experimental design.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational and record‑keeping abilities.

Proficiency with standard computer applications and familiarity with scientific databases.

Capacity to work toward deadlines in a collaborative team environment.

Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot experimental challenges.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 50 lbs for extended periods.

Comfortable with operating laboratory instruments and performing repetitive motions.

Capability to work in environments where hazardous materials and biological agents may be present.

Working Conditions

Standard laboratory environment; may involve working with blood‑borne pathogens and animal research facilities.

Extended hours may be required to meet research deadlines.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly wage in the range $32.58 – $38.48 per hour, with benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as the extensive Stanford Work Location benefits package. Salary will be determined by qualification and experience.
