CADD Drafter/Designer – Substation / Photovoltaic (PV)/ BESS / Wind

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI), a leading power engineering consultant firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Drafter/Designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and physical drafting and design work for electrical substations and renewable energy projects ranging from 4 kV to 500 kV.
Responsibilities PV and BESS Drafter/Designer
Preparing complete drawings of utility‑scale BESS or PV layouts, facilities, or general arrangements including section and detail views and profiles to provide clear and concise representation of facilities.
Preparing electrical single‑line, auxiliary power, SCADA wiring drawings.
Preparing project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts, and arrangements.
Preparing BOMs and using Excel tools to quantify lengths, parts and pieces.
Demonstrating personal technical knowledge development through interface with the engineering departments during execution and review of project assignments.
Assisting in training and advancing the skills of less‑experienced design and drafting department personnel.
Substation Drafter/Designer
Preparing complete drawings of structures, layouts, facilities, or general arrangements including section and detail views and profiles to provide clear and concise representation of facilities.
Preparing electrical single‑line, AC & DC schematics and wiring drawings.
Preparing project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts, and arrangements.
Demonstrating personal technical knowledge development through interface with the engineering departments during execution and review of project assignments.
Assisting in training and advancing the skills of less‑experienced design and drafting department personnel.
Minimum Requirements 2+ years of experience drafting and/or designing electrical PV facilities, wind facilities, BESS yards, or substations, including schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layout, and facility design. Proven effective verbal and written communication skills, results orientation, ability to complete design assignments with minimal direction, strong interpersonal skills, and effective teamwork are required. A strong work ethic with attention to detail, quality, schedule, and budget is essential. Occasional travel/daily driving may be required. The position requires a successful applicant to meet ECI's auto‑insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H‑1B) now or in the future.
