The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and automation systems to ensure optimal production efficiency, safety, and quality.
Duties And Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and other automation components.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and control systems.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
Assist in commissioning new equipment and upgrading existing systems.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system changes.
Requirements Technical Requirements – Education, Areas of Knowledge and Experience
Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in industrial electrical and automation systems.
Proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen‑Bradley).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience in beverage, food, or consumer good manufacturing industry.
Behavioral Requirements – Personal Skills And Competencies
Strong mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing experience.
Act competently in emergencies.
Organized and detail‑oriented.
Follow all safety guidelines for hand tools, power tools, processing, packaging, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
Proficient using CMMS system.
Work successfully with all maintenance and operations personnel.
