Process Engineer – Technology, Selling Partner Support Experience (SPSE) – Catalyst
Amazon is seeking an experienced Process Engineer with a technology background to automate, design, and simplify operational processes that support our third‑party sellers.
Description Are you passionate about automating, designing processes and simplifying work? Is the opportunity to contribute toward Amazon’s ability to scale operations inspiring? We are looking for process engineers who can dive deep, invent, simplify, and own the full lifecycle of high‑quality self‑service software products called Workflows.
Our Business We serve Amazon’s third‑party sellers—over a million merchants, vendors, and brand owners—through the Amazon international marketplace. We build communication tools that help sellers receive assistance and drive cross‑functional initiatives to improve their overall experience.
Our Impact The impact of our work is reflected in Amazon’s growth of physical gross merchandise sales by independent third‑party sellers. Our efforts help Amazon attract, retain, and grow sellers while keeping the customer experience at the highest level.
The Role As a Process Engineer, you will analyze operational processes and design, develop, test, launch, and continuously improve high‑quality self‑service software products (Workflows). You will partner with the broader SPSE organization, product managers, software engineers, business analysts, and program managers on medium‑ to large‑scale projects, and own the process‑engineering lifecycle for Workflows.
Key job responsibilities
Engage with program and business stakeholders to document requirements, create functional specifications, and generate BPMN technology‑powered process maps.
Design, develop, test, launch, and improve automated self‑service software products (Workflows).
Become a subject matter expert on Amazon’s internal process‑map authoring application and architecture for workflow development.
Engage with software development teams to understand and guide evolving technology to automate manual tasks.
Author content in markup languages such as Mustache, Markdown, HTML, and CSS.
Leverage Amazon technology and services to deliver scalable solutions.
Deep‑dive into technical product or operational issues to identify root causes and propose simple, effective, and scalable solutions.
A day in the life
Work extensively on Amazon proprietary BPMN tools to develop and edit existing software products, working backwards from business requirements.
Attend stand‑ups, share project progress, and clarify blockers or issues with senior engineers.
Participate in discussions with business leaders to provide technical solutions to real‑world business problems.
Review technical designs of other engineers, maintaining a high‑quality bar for products.
About the Team The Process Engineering team operates within a broader organization dedicated to streamlining support for Amazon Selling Partners and internal support associates. Our focus is to minimize customer support inquiries and increase support representative efficiency. We collaborate on best practices, mentor engineers, and actively contribute to the overarching goals of the organization.
Basic qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in process development, product design, software development, or business process improvement.
Working knowledge of data and process modeling (process mapping, wireframing, simulation, developing logic, scripting).
Experience with programming and markup/scripting languages (Java, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, Markdown, HTML, CSS).
Experience with Scrum methodologies, delivering large‑scale enterprise solutions, operational support, and strategic upgrades.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field (technical or MBA).
Rapid learning and adoption of new technologies.
Knowledge of technical architectures including upstream and downstream system configurations.
