Project Engineer — Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant At Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., we don’t just build infrastructure — we build life-changing infrastructure. As a privately owned civil contracting firm, we perform work across the public and private markets, specializing in clearing, grading, underground utilities, roadway, and water/wastewater plant construction throughout the Southeast.
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to support our Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) division in Jacksonville, FL. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives in planning, preparation, and execution — supporting projects that make a lasting impact in the communities we serve.
What You’ll Do Project Planning & Execution
Take ownership of project planning, preparation, and execution for water/wastewater treatment plant projects.
Analyze and forecast production budgets to ensure efficiency and profitability.
Apply strong technical knowledge of construction principles, operations, and logistics.
Collaboration & Leadership
Work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff to achieve milestones.
Share your technical expertise to support and elevate your team.

Technology & Documentation
Utilize MS Excel, MS Project, and Primavera P6 for scheduling and reporting.
Apply construction-specific software tools for heavy civil projects (e.g., HCSS, Procore, or equivalent).
Ensure timely and accurate documentation, reporting, and forecasting.
What We’re Looking For Experience & Education
1–3 years of experience in civil engineering or construction management, preferably with water/wastewater treatment plant projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
Technical Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software (Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6).
Experience with heavy civil construction software .
Strong analytical, forecasting, and documentation abilities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to maintain physical stamina, use manual dexterity, lift up to 80 lbs, and climb ladders or scaffolding as required.
