Base Pay Range $385,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr
Eligibility Program This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program approval determines the award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years).
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
United States citizenship (non‑citizens may only be appointed when recruitment of qualified citizens is impossible).
Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to hold a board certification for faculty status.
Residency training must be B+ (ACGME or AOA) or qualifying non‑U.S. training followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) may be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
PRPs must have a full license and are not independent practitioners.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology.
Meet eligibility requirements for a faculty appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine, University of New Mexico, based on qualifications and experience.
Preferred experience: N/A.
Physical requirements per VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
Duties
Provide comprehensive care for dermatologic conditions in an outpatient setting.
Document patient encounters and ensure accurate and timely coding of visits.
Prioritize dermatology consult requests to ensure timely care.
Perform excisional or diagnostic skin biopsies and minor skin surgeries.
Review images from store‑and‑forward program to make treatment recommendations or determine urgency of face‑to‑face evaluation.
Supervise dermatology providers, including performance reviews and evaluations.
Ensure providers comply with VA policies and procedures.
Maintain efficient operations of the dermatology section and clinics.
Advance the clinical, educational, and research missions of VA dermatology.
Participate in multidisciplinary and facility‑level process improvement teams, workgroups, and committees as requested.
Coordinate care at VA or non‑VA referral centers for services not provided at the facility, such as Mohs surgery.
Complete CME as required to maintain competency in dermatology, medical licensure, and board certification.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, privacy, security, and other mandatory VA training in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work schedule: part‑time days and hours to be discussed with the hiring manager.
