BELOVED is an anti-sex trafficking organization loving equipping brave women on their path to freedom. We operate a two-year residential program that includes safe housing, trauma-informed mental health services, strength-based case management, and a healthy community of support. For over a decade, BELOVED has walked alongside women as they rebuild their lives and pursue healing and independence. Position Overview

The Director of Development is a key leader responsible for building and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that secures significant philanthropic investment. This outward-facing role cultivates, solicits, and stewards five- and six-figure gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and churches—advancing sustainable growth for BELOVED’s mission and programs.

The Director manages a team of four: three part-time fundraising contractors (grant writing, events, major gifts support) and one full-time fundraising operations staff member. The Director partners closely with the Executive Director and engages the Board of Directors in fundraising.

Leadership & Strategy

Provide creative, innovative leadership to grow BELOVED’s development efforts and impact.

Develop and implement an annual, data-informed fundraising plan aligned with organizational revenue goals and priorities.

Establish annual/quarterly funding goals; track progress with clear OKRs and dashboards.

Build and implement a moves management system to consistently grow a strong donor pipeline.

Major Gifts, Foundations & Corporations

Personally manage a portfolio of 75–100 high-capacity prospects/donors; secure five- and six-figure gifts.

Cultivate relationships with foundation program officers and corporate decision-makers (especially in Atlanta).

Manage grant writer/contractors; oversee grant calendar, proposals, and reporting in partnership with program staff.

Diversify funding through individuals, corporations, foundations, and church partners.

Campaigns & Events

Organize and manage capital campaigns, annual giving, special projects, and major development events (small and large).

Ensure campaigns and events integrate with major donor strategies and communications.

Supervise, mentor, evaluate and grow the BELOVED development team; build a culture of accountability and excellence.

Provide training, tools, and coaching for staff and key volunteers related to development and communications.

Partner with program staff to align donor communications with accurate impact stories and outcomes.

Serve as a member of BELOVED’s leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, culture, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Board Engagement

Work with the Board and Board Development Committee to align fundraising priorities with strategy.

Equip Board members as ambassadors, connectors, and donors through tools, training, and clear roles.

Attend Board meetings as needed to provide development updates and recommendations.

Systems, Branding & Communications

Maintain meticulous notes; oversee and improve CRM data integrity, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Ensure all print/digital marketing aligns with BELOVED branding and development messaging to grow funding.

Identify professional development and stewardship innovations that set a high standard for donor appreciation.

Primary Relationships

Reports to: Executive Director

Key External: Individual donors, foundations, corporations, churches, community partners

Key Internal: Development/ops staff & contractors, Clinical Director, Board of Directors

Qualifications

5–7 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience with a strong record of five- and six-figure gifts.

Demonstrated success leading a comprehensive development program (individuals, foundations, corporations, churches, and events).

Experience managing development staff/contractors and building high-performance teams.

Experience in direct-service nonprofits and/or working with vulnerable populations preferred.

Connections to or deep knowledge of the Atlanta philanthropic community (funders, foundations, corporations) strongly preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication; strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with CRM and development operations best practices.

Alignment with BELOVED’s faith-based mission and values.

Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE or advanced degree a plus.
