This position plans, maps, sequences and performs assembly of complex electrical, mechanical and pneumatic robotic and equipment from verbal and written instructions. Performs layout of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical schematics. PLC Automation Technician is responsible for designing, programming, repairing and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PLC automation technician inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. PLC automation technician supports repairs and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment. PLC automation technician mentors and provides support to less experienced technicians. PLC automation technician diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed. PLC automation technician performs preventative maintenance on PLC systems. PLC automation technician programs or performs repairs on PLC systems. PLC automation technician performs preventative maintenance or repairs on more advanced metal stamping presses, fabrication and finishing equipment such as notcher, welders and tumblers, equipment, as needed. PLC automation technician performs breakdown analysis. Oversee or perform general housekeeping. PLC automation technician upgrades production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology. PLC automation technician performs a variety of diagnostic troubleshooting activities on assembly automation equipment. PLC automation technician makes mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic repairs to metal stamping, fabrication and robotic equipment. PLC automation technician performs equipment failure analysis, repairs, and scheduled preventative maintenance on robotic and automated equipment. PLC automation technician assists in installing new automated equipment and in moving equipment to new locations. PLC automation technician creates new robot programs and edits existing robot programs. PLC automation technician updates manuals and programs for automated equipment. PLC automation technician keeps accurate reports of all activities performed on each piece of equipment. PLC automation technician provides input to engineering staff on areas for machine improvements. PLC automation technician sets up and maintains production maintenance schedules and parts inventory. PLC automation technician ensures all software is backed up and up-to-date. PLC automation technician works with Maintenance and Process Technicians to maintain daily production maintenance. PLC automation technician directs activities of outside contractors working on assigned equipment. PLC automation technician participates with tooling team members to change over equipment to run different magazines. PLC automation technician enforces ISO standards, safety, and audit standards. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

H.S. diploma or GED from an accredited institution of higher learning, A.S. or B.S. degree Pass technical assessment addressing job-critical maintenance knowledge areas (Applied Technology, Applied Math, Graphic Literacy and Talent) 3-5 years’ experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays, installation, frequency drive and troubleshooting) 3-5 years’ experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs) 3-5 years’ experience with PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance and computer controls) 3-5 years’ experience with equipment manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs) and schematics such as electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps and relays) 3-5 years’ experience with mechanical systems (gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, bearings; refrigeration systems, cylinders, diverters, sensors, motors and speed controls 3-5 years’ experience with kinematics and hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves) 3-5 years’ experience with pneumatics (solenoids, valves, cylinders, motor brakes) 3-5 years’ experience with preventative maintenance 3-5 years’ experience with SERVO (robotic motors, etc.) 3-5 years’ experience with troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns) 3-5 years’ experience with reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics). 5 years’ PLC CNC experience EOE/AA/M/F/VET/D
