We are seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of Ultrapure Water (UPW) and Deionized (DI) systems in a state‑of‑the‑art semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring system stability, water quality, and uptime across complex treatment and distribution networks. The Facilities Engineer will serve as a subject‑matter expert for UPW systems, collaborating closely with operations, maintenance, EHS, and engineering teams to sustain performance and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 operations and maintenance coverage for all ultrapure and deionized water systems, ensuring consistent water quality, equipment reliability, and system uptime.
Oversee operation of UPW process equipment, including treatment skids, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and distribution loops, to maintain system parameters within defined setpoints.
Monitor, control, and optimize system performance through daily rounds, readings, and control‑system (SCADA/BMS) observations, escalating abnormalities promptly to engineering.
Develop, review, and update preventive maintenance procedures, job plans, and setpoint documentation for all UPW systems and associated analytical instruments.
Perform routine balancing and flow verification on distribution laterals and end‑of‑line loops to maintain pressure and flow uniformity across the UPW network.
Ensure calibration, verification, and maintenance of all field instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, conductivity, level, pH, and flow transmitters, in accordance with manufacturer and site standards.
Coordinate with OEMs and system vendors on technical recommendations, component upgrades, and equipment modifications to maintain system performance and compliance.
Execute and document preventive and corrective maintenance using the site’s CMMS, ensuring work orders are properly closed with complete records.
Support system troubleshooting and fault resolution, including investigation of performance deviations, instrument drift, and process upsets.
Collect, analyze, and report UPW quality and wastewater samples as required by site environmental and quality control programs, ensuring proper chain of custody and timely reporting to stakeholders.
Participate in taskforces and engineering investigations, providing system data, operational insights, and field support for testing, sampling, and temporary instrumentation setup.
Maintain accurate operational logs, trend data, and performance reports to support reliability and compliance tracking.
Ensure adherence to EHS and water quality compliance standards, including chemical handling, confined‑space entry, and lockout/tagout requirements.
Support site stormwater and environmental monitoring activities, performing visual inspections, testing, and reporting as required by local environmental procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized work environment, ensuring all systems are operated within established safety and environmental controls.
Provide technical mentorship and training to operators and technicians to ensure consistent understanding of UPW system function, maintenance practices, and safety expectations.
Collaborate with engineering, EHS, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, reduce downtime, and enhance system efficiency.
Ensure all documentation, logs, and maintenance records are properly maintained for audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required
3+ years of relevant experience in UPW, DI, or high‑purity water systems within semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments.
Solid understanding of water treatment technologies—RO, UV, ion exchange, filtration, degasification, and polishing systems.
Experience with control and monitoring systems (SCADA/BMS) and CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo).
Proven ability to interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, and process instrumentation drawings.
Strong commitment to EHS and operational excellence in complex industrial facilities.
Education / Licenses / Certifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
