Senior Project Accountant
LHH is seeking a Senior Project Accountant on behalf of a growing construction company that is rapidly expanding and implementing a new ERP system. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional who enjoys working cross‑functionally with project managers, improving processes, and contributing to the build‑out of a scalable accounting infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project accounting, excellent Excel skills, and a hands‑on approach to solving problems and supporting growth. Job Responsibilities
Set up and maintain jobs, cost codes, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase orders
Manage the full‑cycle project billing process, including communication with clients regarding billing requirements
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
Process subcontractor payments in a timely and accurate manner
Collect, track, and ensure compliance with required documentation (insurance certificates, lien waivers, etc.)
Support the job close‑out process and ensure all financial data is complete and accurate
Assist with internal and external audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Participate in the month‑end and year‑end close process, including account reconciliations and financial reporting
Prepare and review WIP reports and percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition
Contribute to the implementation and optimization of the company’s ERP system (CMiC)
Identify and drive process improvements within the project accounting functionCollaborate with project managers, vendors, and other internal teams to ensure timely and accurate financial data
Job Requirements
2–3+ years of construction accounting experience (required)
Strong understanding of job cost accounting, percentage of completion, and WIP reporting
Proven experience with project billing, invoicing, and subcontractor draws
Excellent Excel skills – including proficiency with VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and pivot tables
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative and professional communication style with both internal teams and external partners
ERP system experience preferred (CMiC or Sage Timberline a plus, but not required)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred but not required
Experience working in a high‑growth or process‑building environment is a plus
