A rapidly growing space technology company is developing a next‑generation small synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. The Satellite Systems Engineer will lead the technical integration of the satellite bus and payload, manage vendor relationships, and guide system‑level design and testing. This role is ideal for an engineer with hands‑on experience designing and launching small satellites (10–100 kg).
Key Responsibilities
Serve as lead systems engineer for the satellite payload, overseeing integration and architecture.
Manage vendor selection and relationships for satellite bus and subsystems.
Develop system requirements, interface control documents, and performance budgets.
Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and validation testing.
Coordinate across internal teams (RF, SAR, embedded systems, software) and external partners.
Support design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and oversee payload‑level test campaigns.
Manage additional vendors for launch, testing, and mission operations services.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (BS/MS/PhD).
Proven experience in satellite systems engineering, integration, and vendor management.
Proficiency in system modeling and analysis (power, thermal, orbital, structural).
Strong communication, documentation, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of SAR, RF systems, electronic beam steering, or embedded systems.
Experience with small satellite design, integration, or operations.
Familiarity with industry standards and space mission best practices.
Collaboration Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including RF, SAR, and embedded systems engineers, and coordinate directly with the satellite bus integrator and subsystem suppliers to ensure seamless system performance.
