This post will cover a sector of the Bury area. The post has been created due to the current consultant moving to another job in the trust. The Bury general adult psychiatry service (generally for people aged 16 to 64) has been run since 2008 according to a model whereby our team of consultants are deployed as follows: Three consultants work exclusively in the community and outpatient focus areas, one working with the Early Intervention Service, and two inpatient area including Home Treatment and two A&E Liaison Team. Also one consultant in Living Well. Within this arrangement, the consultant appointed to this post will work with other sector consultants (East, West and South sector community outpatients). Bury has a very strong teaching commitment and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff. Medical Degree

MBChB or equivalent Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management. GMC registration

Full registration with GMC In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice Specialisr register

Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months. AC status

Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment S12 approval

Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment Knowledge in psychiatry

Excellent knowledge in adult psychiatry including knowledge and experience of a range of conditions and complex psychological problems Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Qualifications

Approved Clinician status (or eligible for same) Possession of CCT or be within 6 months of achieving this CCT in General Adult Psychiatry Experience in detention of patients under The MHA (1983) Experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals. Evidence of teaching and training abilities. Commitment to share the work of the department with colleagues, to develop and improve the service as a whole, and to the organisational philosophy Registered for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists Evidence of audit activity Available to participate in on-call rota Current or past educational supervisor of a basic trainee and a specialist registrar Evidence of leading the development of services elsewhere.
