Job Summary The Engineer at Hyatt Place is responsible for maintaining the property’s overall functionality, including the building, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures that all hotel facilities and services operate smoothly and efficiently, providing guests with a safe and comfortable experience.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance tasks on all mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other hotel assets. Ensure the upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas.
Repair Work : Respond promptly to guest or management requests for repair services. Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
Safety and Compliance : Maintain the hotel's safety standards by conducting regular inspections and tests, ensuring that all equipment is in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Participate in fire drills and safety programs.
Energy Management : Monitor and control energy usage throughout the hotel, looking for ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Documentation : Keep accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs. Report any unsafe conditions or equipment that requires replacement.
Vendor Coordination : Work with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or maintenance tasks. Oversee their work to ensure it meets the hotel’s standards.
Team Collaboration : Work closely with the housekeeping and front desk teams to address guest concerns and maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the hotel.
Emergency Response : Be available to respond to emergencies, such as power outages, plumbing issues, or fire alarms. Act swiftly to mitigate any issues.
Training and Development : Assist in training new team members or junior engineers on equipment, safety procedures, and maintenance techniques.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training.
Experience : Previous experience in hotel maintenance or engineering. Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is highly valued.
Skills : Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with guests and team members.
Certifications : Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, EPA) are preferred.
Physical Requirements : Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, heights). Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Work Schedule The role may require working varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the hotel's needs.
Requirements
A degree in a relevant field such as mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
Proven experience in a manufacturing facility as a maintenance engineer or in a similar role.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to use a multimeter, including high and low voltage systems.
Basic welding skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical stamina to perform tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
