Join Kaiser Permanente as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) providing mid‑level practitioner services to a geriatric population in sub‑acute skilled nursing facility (SNF) stays and residential care. You will perform in‑depth physical assessments, manage acute and chronic health problems, and collaborate with MDs, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members.
Job Summary Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of acute, episodic, and chronic health problems for patients in skilled nursing facility and residential care stays, ensuring timely and appropriate assessment and plan of care within ARNP scope.
Essential Responsibilities
Collaborate with attending physicians to provide mid‑level practitioner services, including initial evaluation, ongoing medical monitoring, and triage of changes in patient condition.
Use prescriptive authority, in compliance with state and federal law, to order medications, treatments, and therapies; order and interpret lab work, x‑rays, and other tests.
Facilitate day‑to‑day plans for ongoing medical care; make telephone encounters or episodic visits as necessary to address patient, family, and facility concerns.
Provide primary contact for health and medical care for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington members during a nursing home stay; educate patients, families, and staff; participate in family care conferences and care planning.
Ensure accurate, legible, and timely submission of paperwork; attend staff meetings; participate in after‑hours call coverage and precepting of ARNP students; contribute to quality improvement projects.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum two (2) years of geriatric clinical experience in acute and chronic health problems.
Current registered nurse license (Washington) and nurse practitioner license (Washington) required at hire.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Certificate with Prescriptive Authority (Washington) required at hire.
Driver’s license (Washington) and Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of geriatric or long‑term care experience as a nurse practitioner.
Expanded prescriptive authority for Schedule II‑IV medications.
Education
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Additional Requirements
Geriatric clinical expertise in acute and chronic health problems.
