Role Summary A Project Engineer within order engineering is an integral member of the Customer Order execution process. A Project Engineer reviews and prepares engineering data, 2‑D drawings, 3‑D models, bills of materials, performs engineering studies and related calculations, coordinates cross‑functionally with other Flowserve departments (internal and external) and suppliers to establish schedules for the fulfillment of standard and custom pump and seal orders. Able to analyze and improve quality, cost and delivery of products by using lean and six‑sigma tools.
Location Vernon, California
Work Schedule Mon – Fri, 7 am – 4 pm, at‑site 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret customer specifications.
Assist in material selection to meet customer project requirements.
Take technical project responsibility, including creating complete engineering bills of material and customer/part design drawings.
Meet project schedule milestones for engineering deliverables.
Interface and support other department functions by providing technical guidance to procurement, planning, manufacturing and suppliers to clarify project requirements.
Conduct design reviews to ensure components and assemblies comply with customer specifications and design requirements.
Manage multiple projects involving complex designs, including oversight of support resources and seeking guidance from technical specialists.
Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis in support of design efforts.
Review and approve suppliers’ documentation.
Support technical discussions with customers and other key functional areas.
Requirements
BS degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering preferred) and 2–3 years of relevant design engineering experience.
Possess understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
Experience with 2‑D and 3‑D drafting and modeling; experience with SolidWorks preferred.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Design engineering experience with rotating equipment is highly preferred.
Experience with ASME B&P Code & ANSI Y14.5 is preferred.
Strong communication and organization skills.
Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Familiarity with applicable industrial guidelines and regulations governing the Nuclear Industry (HI, 10CFR50, 10CFR21, API, CSA, etc.) is a plus.
