Position Summary The
Business Analyst (Mainframe Systems SME)
will support multiple parts applications projects by analyzing business requirements, defining architectural solutions, and ensuring successful delivery of large-scale mainframe systems. The role requires strong expertise in COBOL-based environments, system integration, and enterprise architecture. The candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, technical teams, and stakeholders to drive solution design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the
Mainframe Systems SME , assisting project managers and team leads on parts applications initiatives.
Gather and analyze business requirements, perform functional and detailed analysis/design, testing, and documentation.
Define architectural solutions to meet business and system requirements.
Support all SDLC phases including analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and warranty.
Provide regular project status updates to the project manager or lead.
Manage tasks ranging from small enhancements (~100 hours) to larger projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards and strategies.
What You’ll Work On
Serve as the
Mainframe Subject Matter Expert
on the
Texas Crossdock Project , supporting systems analysis, testing, and implementation for automotive supply chain and warehouse management systems.
Required Skills & Experience
Proficient in
COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, DB2 , and SDLC concepts.
Experience supporting and enhancing large-scale mainframe systems.
Strong knowledge of software engineering, architecture, and system implementation.
Working knowledge of
Microsoft .NET technologies (C#, MVC, Angular)
is a plus.
Familiarity with multi-tier, cross-platform architectures and enterprise-level solutions.
Understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desired Skills
Experience in automotive parts systems, warehousing, or supply chain domains.
Exposure to AS400 technologies, including RPG IV programming.
Prior experience in Big 4 consulting or large enterprise project delivery.
Strong documentation and process analysis capabilities.
Preferred Background
3+ years of Big 4 consulting experience preferred.
Stable work history with large enterprise organizations.
