Part‑Time Faculty & Lab Instructors – Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) Excelsior University is building a pool of part‑time faculty and lab instructors to support its hybrid undergraduate Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program.

Courses are delivered in an asynchronous online format, with in‑person lab components held at our St. Petersburg, FL site. Instructors are responsible for the full cycle of online teaching, facilitating learning through video announcements, discussions, assignments, and grading with substantive feedback, while also leading hands‑on lab sessions that reinforce applied skills and workforce readiness.

Depending on qualifications, instructors in this pool may be assigned to the following courses:

ELEC152 – Circuit Theory I: Introduction to electrical circuit analysis including voltage, current, resistance, energy, power, circuit configurations, circuit theorems, capacitance, inductance, and transformers.

ELEC153 – Circuit Theory II: Focus on alternating current (AC) circuits including transient response, phasors, impedance, AC power, filters, resonance, and engineering standards.

ELEC160 – Electronics I: Study of semiconductor devices (diodes, BJTs, FETs, MOSFETs), DC biasing, amplifier design, and frequency response.

ELEC161 – Electronics II: Advanced electronic circuits including differential amplifiers, operational amplifiers, active filters, oscillators, DACs/ADCs, and high‑frequency amplifiers with emphasis on troubleshooting and simulation.

Lab sessions are typically 3 hours in length, scheduled in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate working adult learners.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate in‑person and hybrid lab sessions aligned with course outcomes.

Guide students through practical exercises such as DC and AC circuit analysis and troubleshooting.

Support breadboarding and prototyping activities.

Teach use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and simulation tools.

Model semiconductor device testing and amplifier design.

Demonstrate operational amplifier circuits, filters, and frequency response analysis.

Reinforce online learning with applied demonstrations and real‑world scenarios.

Provide timely, constructive feedback on lab performance and support student learning.

Maintain and update lab environments to ensure safety, functionality, and relevance.

Collaborate with faculty, site staff, and lab technicians to ensure seamless integration between online and in‑person learning.

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.

2+ years of professional experience in electrical/electronics engineering or related technical roles.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate asynchronous online learning and in‑person lab components.

Familiarity with standard lab equipment and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

College‑level teaching experience, especially with adults and non‑traditional learners.

Experience with online teaching platforms, virtual labs, and LMS systems.

Industry certifications or licensure (e.g., PE, CET).

Experience integrating workforce readiness and applied skills into academic coursework.

Application Note This posting is for a pool of part‑time instructors. Assignments will be based on qualifications, availability, and course needs. Candidates may be considered for multiple EET courses and lab sessions.

The position is compensated at a flat rate of $1,000 per credit hour per course, with low‑enrollment courses paid at a directed study rate; the salary range stated reflects the University’s good faith estimate at the time of posting.

Excelsior University offers competitive compensation and a generous benefits package that includes paid time off, retirement, and excellent health insurance.
