Maintains and updates the computerized control ledgers to record all cash receipts and expenditures and other transactions, in support of the professional accounting activities for Maui County; compiles and prepares summary reports; and performs other related duties as required. Responsibilities Maintains expenditure, object, cost, and control ledgers in the County's computerized accounting system. Audits, classifies, codes, and distributes vendor credit and contract payments by posting payments to proper ledgers. Resolves discrepancies and omissions independently, or informs Accountant of major discrepancies. Posts daily cash receipts, as approved by Accountants, and reviews and validates all revenue transactions. Maintains county wide payroll expenditure by posting and distributing payroll transactions in the computerized accounting system. Audits all transactions for accuracy and maintains file on all payroll distributions. Classifies and codes accounting transactions, and distributes all purchase order receiving documents into County's computerized accounting system. Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts with monthly reports. Maintains accurate balances on all County Capital Projects Ledgers. Under the direction of Accountants, assists in compiling data for and preparing financial reports and statements. Compiles, prepares and transmits interfund billings and/or statements to various County departments. Audits general cost sheets for overtime and materials for special County projects. Sets up and monitors interfund accounts receivable ledger.

Training and Experience

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of account recordkeeping work experience, at least two of which shall have been in a central accounting agency in support of professional accounting activities. Knowledge

Principles and practices of account recordkeeping; financial statements and reports; office practices and procedures; Maui County's Central Book of Accounts; operation of standard office machines, including personal computers. Abilities

Prepare accurately and maintain correct fiscal records, financial statements and reports; understand and explain laws, rules and regulations to other County departmental personnel; examine and verify financial documents and reports; maintain effective working relationships with others.
