Radiation Therapist
Under the administrative supervision of the operations manager, director of radiation oncology services, and the professional direction of a radiation oncologist, the radiation therapist performs various radiotherapy treatments and simulations at a technical level requiring minimal supervision. The role may involve providing instruction to technology students and/or ancillary personnel, assisting in the development of new simulation or treatment techniques, and utilizing new equipment. Interact closely with patients while building supportive, nurturing relationships. Provide accurate and precise delivery of radiation in a dynamic teamwork‑favored atmosphere. Coordinate patient care and treatment with radiation oncologists and nursing staff. Develop and maintain scientific understanding of radiation, its effects, and safe delivery using linear accelerators and Tomotherapy units. Acquire patient data with a CT scanner and build positioning devices in partnership with seasoned dosimetrists. Work with physics and engineering staff to problem‑solve and report machine issues. Qualifications
Education
Thorough knowledge of theory, practices, procedures, and equipment used in radiation oncology. Licensure/Certifications
Licensed in Radiation Therapy by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) with certification in Radiation Therapy ARRT (T) required at start. BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required at start. Total Rewards Package
