As part of Employee Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, this position supports the Yale New Haven Hospital Serenity Station program for employees by providing chair massage therapy, Reiki services, and/or mindfulness/meditation practice. The goal is to create a healing environment that facilitates stress reduction and educates employees on additional YNHHS resources that support ongoing emotional and physical wellbeing.
Responsibilities
Provide safe and effective chair massage services to facilitate physical relaxation and stress reduction.
Conduct health evaluations prior to sessions; customize treatment plans based on client health histories, conditions, and preferences.
Conduct Reiki healing sessions to promote energy balance, decrease stress, and increase resiliency.
Lead employees through mindfulness exercises and guided meditation sessions tailored to individual needs.
Teach techniques such as mindfulness meditation, body scans, breathing exercises, and relaxation methods to facilitate a mind‑body connection.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma and completion of an accredited Massage Therapy program. Must be licensed and certified in Connecticut. Certified Reiki Practitioner (Level 2 or Master) from an accredited institution. Additional Certificate in Energy Medicine preferred. Formal training or certification in MBSR, guided meditation, or related mindfulness techniques.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years as a Licensed Massage Therapist; at least 2 years of Reiki services, preferably in an institutional/healthcare setting; at least 1 year of mindfulness/guided meditation practice in healthcare or corporate setting.
Licensure:
CT Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Reiki Practitioner (Level 2 or Master), MBSR certification preferred. Valid Driver's License.
Special Skills:
Strong communication skills; ability to maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards; passion for helping clients achieve mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a group setting.
Physical Demand:
Ability to perform services for extended periods in a physically demanding environment. Flexibility to cover daytime and evening shifts across Connecticut locations as requested.
