The commercial lines account manager is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and supporting the needs of our business clients. The Account Manager is committed to providing the highest service and quality standards set forth by the agency. Day-to-day maintenance and servicing of assigned Commercial Lines accounts, including but not limited to:
Maintaining a high level of client service and satisfaction
Marketing & placement of renewal accounts as appropriate
Achieving agency account retention goals through proactive account rounding, up‑selling of limits and coverages, and by providing extraordinary client service
Essential Duties:
Uses company guidelines and independent judgement to prequalify accounts, recommend coverage, and cross‑sell lines of business
Prepares underwriting submissions for new and renewal business, including assistance with completing supplemental applications and ACORD applications
Prepares insurance proposals for the sale and renewal of commercial lines business
Maintains client files and ensures proper documentation by processing all policies, endorsements, binders, certificates of insurance, notices, etc.
Negotiates terms and conditions with insurance carriers, including coverage and pricing. Issues requests to bind, endorse, and cancel coverage
Prepares invoices, reviews audits, and collects forms of payment for insurance premium purposes
Interacts with customers and carrier representatives, including handling service matters, complaints, disputes, and resolving grievances
Responds and consults with customers by means of professional communication including e‑mail, mail, phone, fax, text, and video conference
Transacts customary business, runs reports, quotes, and sets up activities using web based platforms and agency management systems
Successfully completes continuing education and certification courses for professional licensing and development purposes
Additional Duties:
Always keeps a professional appearance, positive attitude, and tidy work area
Ability to organize, prioritize and work under pressure at times; team player
Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and stay current
Interacts with others effectively by utilizing good communications skills, cooperates positively and provides information and guidance, as needed, to contribute to the business efforts of the agency
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
Appropriate State license(s). Minimum 2-3 years’ insurance brokerage or equivalent experience.
Extensive knowledge of all lines of commercial insurance, including sophisticated and less common coverages, especially those products represented through agency.
Thorough knowledge of brokerage operations including claims handling, procedures, commercial lines rating, agency management system, and applicable insurance laws/codes.
Experience and expertise in operating in electronic environment; excellent automation skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, document management software, carrier proprietary systems, and phone systems.
Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management techniques.
Excellent time management, organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of self‑motivation and self‑direction.
