Responsible for designing and testing advanced mechanical systems for safety‑critical automated aviation platforms.

Location & Reporting Mountain View, California – reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
Design, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote‑piloted aircraft.
Collaborate with top mechanical engineers and cross‑functional teams (Electrical, Systems, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, and Flight Test).
Own hardware from concept through flight test and certification – cradle‑to‑grave engineering with hands‑on build, test, and integration.
Bring a sense of humility and be ready to both learn and teach.
Basic Qualifications
BS in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent engineering.
2+ years of professional experience developing mechanical systems.
Experience with current CAD and FEM packages.
Experience in innovative system designs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Expertise in electromechanical or mechanical engineering.
Demonstrated ability to drive designs to closure.
Experience taking designs through FAA certification.
Design for manufacturability and volume production.
Previous experience with aircraft or other safety‑critical mechanical systems.
Flight and/or ground test familiarity or experience.
Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
Compensation The estimated salary range for this position is $118,000 to $170,000 per year, plus cash and stock option awards and benefits.
