Base pay range: $89,200.00 /yr - $185,000.00 /yr Description

AWS Training & Certification (T&C) is seeking a Systems Development Engineer I (SysDE 1) to build and maintain automation tools and infrastructure that enhance how AWS training content is created, updated, and delivered. You will work with senior engineers to design and deliver automation components and monitoring systems that improve the efficiency and reliability of content publishing and refresh workflows. This role is ideal for someone eager to deepen their systems engineering, automation, and AWS cloud skills in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, and deploy automation scripts, tools, and services that improve content maintenance and publishing workflows. Support system reliability and operational excellence by implementing monitoring, alerting, and run‑book automation. Participate in code and design reviews, learning from experienced engineers and incorporating feedback. Contribute to the diagnosis and resolution of system issues and participate in root‑cause analysis. Document processes and system designs to improve team onboarding and sustainability. Learn and apply best practices in resilience engineering, security, and accessibility. A Day in the Life

The Systems Development Engineer collaborates with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, and Curriculum Developers to design and deliver automation systems that improve the efficiency and quality of AWS training content. Each day involves building and maintaining AI‑driven pipelines that detect stale content, automate refresh workflows, and enhance publishing reliability. The engineer partners with internal customers across Content Studio, LCMS, and Skill Builder to reduce manual processes, increase scalability, and ensure seamless learner experiences. They balance hands‑on coding, system design, and operational excellence to make AWS content delivery faster and smarter. About the Team

Sitting within AWS Training and Certification, Core Curriculum builds and manages the world’s most complete and current portfolio of cloud training content. Our portfolio comprises thousands of learning experiences, covering hundreds of discrete AWS services. We build for all levels, from introductory to advanced and support global learners across 22 languages. Core Curriculum is at the vanguard of the generative AI revolution with investments in AI and broader technical automation that will massively increase the coverage and reach of our training portfolio, meeting ever‑increasing customer expectations of choice and personalization. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field 1+ years of software development, or 3+ years of systems engineering experience Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, Ruby or Perl Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience in technical support and automation with any version control tools Preferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
