As a Senior Principal Engineer in this space, you will have broad ownership of core technical components and services. You will guide the engineering team and lead the development of cloud services that enable streaming providers to move their workloads to OCI. These services include playback, content augmentation, video transcoding and packaging, content delivery, streaming analytics, and flexible billing & cost analytics. This is a unique opportunity to build a competitive product from the ground up and extend OCI's reach into new opportunities within the media and entertainment industry. You will collaborate with engineering leaders to shape the path to success, leveraging your experience as a lead developer to influence and direction the project.
We are looking for someone with substantial experience in building, leading, and operating cloud services at a high technical level. Experience in video playback, video encoding technologies, content delivery using CDNs, and live streaming is highly desired. This individual contributor role is one of the senior-most technical positions within Oracle Cloud. We value individuals with exceptional soft skills alongside technical prowess. Strong communication abilities, leadership, and collaboration are essential. You will mentor engineers, drive complex technical projects, and lead initiatives with confidence and independence.
Responsibilities
Research state‑of‑the‑art technical focus areas.
Design cloud service architecture, micro‑service design, scalability, observability, and availability provisions.
Design and implement services and their component micro‑services.
Collaborate with the engineering team to deliver and operate cloud services that enable streaming providers to shift their workloads to OCI.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
Launch new cloud services and establish operational excellence.
Lead implementation to realize and achieve the technical vision of the team.
Engage with geographically distributed engineering teams.
Coach, mentor, and develop talent.
Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for the entire organization.
Define OKRs and KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.
Qualifications
BS/CS Computer Science or related field and 8+ years software development experience.
Large/enterprise‑scale software development and engineering experience, particularly with cloud services and distributed systems.
Domain knowledge and experience with playback, content augmentation, video transcoding and packaging, content delivery, streaming analytics, and flexible billing & cost analytics.
Experience as a lead developer in the design, implementation and operation of cloud services.
Experience collaborating with geo‑distributed teams.
Extensive background and experience in software implementation, code and design review, failure root‑cause analysis.
Designing for availability, observability, scalability and recoverability.
Compensation & Benefits US: Hiring Range in USD from:
$96,800 to $251,600 per annum . Eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
