About your role You will lead global engineering teams across backend, frontend, and core platform functions to build scalable, secure, and AI‑enabled fintech platforms that power payments and developer experiences at Fiserv. This role fuses technical leadership, platform strategy, and direct product delivery to modernize systems, expand API ecosystems, and accelerate GenAI adoption. The team’s outcomes will increase integration, velocity, resiliency, and compliance across internal and external partners.

What you’ll do

Set and execute the engineering strategy for platform consolidation, modernization, and GenAI adoption, aligned to product and business objectives.

Lead, mentor, and scale cross‑functional teams (backend, frontend, DevOps, data, AI/ML), establishing clear priorities, OKRs, and hiring plans.

Own architecture decisions and roadmaps for cloud‑native platforms, microservices, event‑driven systems, and modern data pipelines.

Drive implementation of AI/ML capabilities such as GenAI, RAG, personalization engines, and ML‑backed developer tools.

Define and enforce API strategy and management, including API gateways, developer portals, SDKs, OpenAPI/AsyncAPI practices, and external integration patterns.

Lead payments engineering initiatives (merchant acquiring, bill payments, tokenization, identity management) with a focus on high availability, resilience, and regulatory compliance (PCI, SOC 2).

Improve developer productivity and DX through platform services, observability, CI/CD, and DevSecOps automation.

Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, cloud cost optimization, and third‑party integrations.

Collaborate with product, risk, security, and executive stakeholders to prioritize investments and communicate technical trade‑offs.

Experience you’ll need to have

12 years of experience in designing and leading cloud‑native architectures on Azure (preferred) including microservices and event‑driven systems.

12 years of experience in backend and frontend development with Java, Spring Boot, Python, and React.

12 years of experience in payments security and compliance, including PCI DSS, SOC 2, tokenization, and identity management.

8 years of proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering enterprise‑grade platforms, with a strong focus on strategic execution, cross‑functional collaboration, and innovation.

5 years of experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform), and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).

5 years of experience in API design and management, API gateways (e.g., Kong, Apigee), developer portals, and SDK delivery.

4 years of experience implementing AI/ML and GenAI solutions, including RAG, embeddings, and personalization engines.

Experience that would be great to have

Azure Solutions Architect (or equivalent) certification.

Direct experience in fintech or financial services payments product engineering.

Experience leading platform modernization and digital transformation programs at scale.

Proven success in managing vendor relationships, cloud cost programs, and engineering budgets.

Strong track record mentoring engineering managers and building distributed, high‑performing teams.

Proven track record in managing large‑scale engineering teams and delivering enterprise‑grade platforms.

How you’ll work This role is on‑site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in‑person collaboration essential for onboarding and overall productivity. The position requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

Sponsorship You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered. Candidates requiring sponsorship, or holding temporary visas such as F‑1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H‑1B, H‑2, or TN, will not be considered for this role.
