as a Postdoctoral Scientist in the Biomedical Imaging Research Institute (BIRI) under Principal Investigator Damini Dey, PhD. The research focuses on automated derivation of imaging measures from noninvasive cardiac image data, clinical implementation of novel automated computer processing algorithms, and application to solve key clinical problems.
Job Description In this role, the Postdoctoral Scientist will work independently under the direction of Dr. Dey, collaborating closely with research staff. Responsibilities include performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, developing and adapting research techniques, analyzing and interpreting data, maintaining equipment, and contributing to grant proposals, publications, and presentations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of grant proposals (not responsible for generating grant funds).
Contribute to publications and presentations as author or co‑author.
Design and perform experiments; keep appropriate experimental records and documentation; analyze results with the Principal Investigator.
Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.
Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data.
Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period.
Operate and maintain equipment and instruments.
Observe MD‑patient or MD‑human research subject interactions as they pertain to research.
Qualifications
Education:
Doctorate degree in a field directly related to the research specialization (cardiac CT imaging, coronary artery disease, or aortic stenosis).
Experience and Skills:
Highly motivated and capable of working independently on research projects designed by a mentor.
No prior experience required; can acquire thorough technical and theoretical knowledge during 1–5 year post‑doctoral appointment.
Proven track record of publications.
Aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection and analysis.
Knowledge of safety standards, operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment.
