Principal Product Designer

A key element is evolving QuickBooks’ business intelligence to provide business leaders, from solo entrepreneurs to CFOs, with a constant understanding of their business performance and actionable insights to increase revenue and profitability. We seek a visionary Principal Product Designer with strong interaction design skills, cross-functional experience, and expertise in data-driven design to shape the business intelligence ecosystem. You will partner cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, data analysts, and marketers to transform static analytics dashboards into proactive, personalized, and agentic experiences across QuickBooks.
Responsibilities
Strategic Design Leadership:
Define and drive the design vision for key PDX initiatives, aligning with Intuit's overall strategy and business goals
Design Principles and Standards:
Set the bar for design principles and standards that promote consistency and excellence
Future-facing Product and UX Strategy:
Work with design and product leaders to develop future facing product and UX strategy
Design Execution And Innovation:
Lead the design of complex, cross-functional projects, from concept to completion
Prototyping and Specifications:
Create high-fidelity prototypes and design specifications that effectively communicate design intent and vision
Innovative Design Solutions:
Explore and implement innovative design solutions that leverage emerging patterns and AI
Design Systems:
Advance our design systems to be future-forward and efficient
Storytelling and Communication:
Articulate design concepts and rationale through compelling presentations and narratives
Cross-functional Influence:
Influence and inspire cross-functional teams and leadership through effective storytelling
Facilitation:
Facilitate design artifacts, shares, workshops and critiques to drive alignment across leadership and product teams
Mentorship and Thought Leadership:
Mentor staff and senior designers; establish oneself as a thought leader within the design community
Adoption of Best Practices:
Drive adoption of best practices and new design approaches
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in product design, preferably in large-scale products
Exceptional storytelling and communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels
Expert in design systems, interaction design, and visual craft
Proven track record of leading and delivering impactful design solutions across large and complex products and platforms
Ability to convey holistic ideas and concepts through storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping
A portfolio that demonstrates a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and craft
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence other designers, product management, marketing, and engineering leaders to drive outcomes
Exceptional ability to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to lead and inspire teams across functions
Compensation and Benefits Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay-for-performance rewards approach. This position is eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with applicable plans and programs. Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. The expected base pay range for this position is:
Bay Area California: 229,000 - 309,500
