Base pay range: $300,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr This is an Engineering Manager role at Clipboard Health. We are a fast-growing Series C marketplace connecting workplaces and professionals for on-demand shifts. We value customer centricity, urgency, curiosity, and ownership. We are a globally distributed team with 700+ people and have been profitable since 2022.
What You’ll Do
Own the process, delivery, and execution of engineering teams; ensure high quality and optimal performance. Partner with Product Managers and customers to create roadmaps and align priorities with business goals and customer needs. Provide technical guidance through review of PRs, architecture, and design documents; coach for high-quality solutions. Drive performance management with proactive issue identification and actionable feedback for continuous improvement. Mentor engineers to support growth and create personalized development plans. Own and optimize engineering processes; craft team goals and raise the technical bar with a culture of feedback and transparency. Lead hiring, onboarding, and retention to support rapid team growth. Proactively solve problems and own outcomes; engage in open conversations and first-principles thinking.
What You Bring to the Table
6+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years leading software development professionals as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Founder. Experience managing agile, high-performing teams in fast-paced, geographically dispersed environments. Performance management expertise with ability to coach engineers at all levels. Customer-centric problem solver who translates ambiguous problems into actionable solutions. Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Hands-on development and system design experience; maintain technical fluency. Comfort with difficult conversations; decisive and direct feedback. Experience in hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent to build high-performing teams. Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
Bonus Points
Experience as a startup founder or in startup environments. Familiarity with TypeScript, React, NestJS, or microservices architecture. Proven success managing distributed teams and supporting web or mobile applications.
