As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Card Technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes‑oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading‑edge technologies

Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Works collaboratively with Product Owner and the team to deliver new code using the most efficient design solution approach

Performs Database design and development utilizing IMS DB, DB2, DB2 SQL, IBM Websphere MQ Messaging and stored procedures

Estimates and plans JIRA stories and document task

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

Advanced Experience (7 years) in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with IBM‑Z/OS Mainframe applications

Experience with Mainframe development suite, COBOL, JCL, CICS, MQ, VSAM with primary focus on real‑time processes and experience with batch, CICS Main view, REXX, CLIST

Proficient in FTP/NDM/File‑Mover, CA‑7, IBM Utilities, Intertest, File Aid, TSO/ISPF/SDSF, File Manager, Changeman, SORT

Experience with debug tools like Xpediter

Strong Database design and development skills in IMS DB, DB2, DB2 SQL and Stored Procedures

Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solution

Understanding of architecture and design across all systems

Experience estimating and planning JIRA stories (Documentation)

Passionate about building an innovative culture

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

Exposure to distributed Technologies (Java, Kafka, Rest Web Service, XML)

Familiarity with AWS

Experience in a very large Financial Services technology environment
