Electrical and Automation Design Engineer

About the Role Concentric Integration provides full-service automation of water/wastewater systems, including design, implementation, and support. The Electrical and Automation Design Engineer leads the design of electrical power distribution and technology improvements for municipalities. In this role you will work in both consulting engineering and integration design capacities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and integrating control panels with project managers and integrators.
Responsibilities
Reports to Design Engineering Director for work responsibilities, scheduling, and quality control.
Leads design efforts for projects with consulting engineers and end users.
Provides constructability review for electrical and automation design documents in multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Reviews quality and coordination of shop drawings and O&M submittals.
Provides technical training and mentorship to design engineers.
Designs electrical distribution systems, including one-line diagrams, plan drawings, panel schedules, and equipment elevations.
Designs automation, controls, and related SCADA systems for water/wastewater processes, including communications, PLC architecture, instrumentation, and related software and hardware.
Prepares project specifications for electrical, instrumentation, and process controls.
Prepares Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Prepares detailed control panel wiring schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, communication diagrams, etc.
Reviews instrumentation and control system submittal packages.
Reviews and updates design standards to maintain compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and good engineering practice.
Occasionally visits client sites to investigate existing field conditions as required for preparing design documents.
Education Requirement
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program.
Must-Haves, What You Will Bring
5+ years of experience as an Electrical/Controls Design Engineer.
AutoCAD experience required.
Advanced computer literacy and proficiency.
Effective oral, written, and digital communication skills.
Ability to interact with design staff and consulting engineers.
Strong organizational skills for productive task and time management.
Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Visio experience a plus.
P.E. license is preferred.
EIT preferred with experience working towards a PE.
Compensation Salary range: $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a candidate’s skill set, experience, and certifications.
