Duties & Responsibilities
Provide instruction in classroom, clinical laboratory, and clinical settings under the general supervision of the course coordinator.
Identify learning needs of students and collaborate with health care facilities to create meaningful learning experiences that meet program outcomes.
Provide clinical instruction at long‑term care, sub‑acute, ambulatory, and/or acute clinical sites.
Evaluate student competence based on program philosophy and learning outcomes.
Prepare student progress reports.
Create a clinical environment that fosters academic growth and guides professional development.
Attend faculty meetings at least once per semester.
Perform other teaching‑related duties, including preparing course syllabi and maintaining office hours for student advising.
Work collegially to provide service to the department and college, engage in public service related to professional expertise, and pursue professional development and scholarly activities.
Engage in clinical teaching at off‑campus sites as needed, with possible evenings, weekends, distance education, and continuing education classes.
Work Schedule Regular schedule Monday through Friday, with potential evening and weekend duties, continuing education, distance education, and teaching at off‑campus sites.
Minimum Qualifications
BSN in Nursing and at least three years of hospital experience in one of the teaching responsibility areas; RN eligible for Hawaii State License (required by effective date of employment).
MSN in Nursing and at least one year of hospital experience in one of the teaching responsibility areas; RN eligible for Hawaii State License (required by effective date of employment).
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, or teaching methods.
Evidence of successful teaching in a college setting.
Experience working with diverse, multi‑ethnic student populations.
Ability to instruct using multimedia resources and computer literacy.
Recent clinical experience in acute care facilities on O‘ahu, with community nursing needs assessment and short‑term course development.
