FCM Risk Manager The FCM Risk Manager will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and managing risks associated with the firm’s FCM activities, with a focus on margin, liquidity, market exposure, and client credit risk. This individual will ensure adherence to regulatory standards (CFTC, NFA, etc.), applicable DCO rules and internal risk frameworks, while providing timely risk analysis and escalation to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor client positions on derivatives.

Review margin requirements, back‑testing results, stress‑test exposures, and track intraday and end‑of‑day risk metrics.

Assess concentration, liquidity, and credit risks across the client base relative to internal limits and DCO requirements.

Escalate breaches of limits or unusual trading activity promptly.

Run scenario analyses (market shocks, liquidity events, volatility spikes) to evaluate client and firm resilience.

Recommend enhancements to risk models, monitoring tools, and margin methodologies.

Enforce risk policies, position limits, and collateral requirements.

Maintain and enhance risk control frameworks in line with FCM obligations and DCO rules.

Ensure compliance with CFTC, NFA, and applicable DCO regulations.

Support regulatory reporting, risk attestations, and audits.

Evaluate risk implications of new products, trading strategies, or client offerings before launch.

Collaborate with trading, operations, and compliance teams to ensure appropriate risk controls, margin requirements, and DCO compliance are in place.

Recommend risk mitigation strategies for new product initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Mathematics, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (FRM, CFA, PRM) is a plus.

5-10 years of experience in risk management, preferably within an FCM, clearinghouse, or derivatives brokerage.

Strong knowledge of futures, options and margin methodologies (SPAN, VaR).

Familiarity with CFTC/NFA regulations, exchange risk rules, and industry best practices.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency with risk systems, and preferably Python/SQL for risk analysis.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate risk issues to senior management and regulators.

Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.

Work Style

The crypto market is 24/7, and while this role is not expected to work around the clock, the candidate should be comfortable with flexible hours and occasional coverage during non‑standard time zones, market events, or system incidents.

100% remote with occasional travel.
