Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility
The Graphic Designer supports Bethel University’s marketing and communications initiatives by producing creative visual content across print and digital platforms. As a key member of the University Marketing & Communications team, this position collaborates with colleagues and departments across campus to design branded materials that promote enrollment, advancement, and community engagement.
The Graphic Designer develops a wide variety of assets including advertisements, brochures, social media graphics, event materials, and digital content. The position ensures consistency with Bethel’s brand identity and contributes to the planning and execution of institution-wide campaigns.
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities Design and Production
Create print and digital materials such as brochures, flyers, mailers, social media graphics, posters, banners, billboards, and advertising assets
Prepare final production files for print and digital distribution, ensuring all work meets professional production standards
Format and edit documents and graphics for internal and external use
Maintain consistent application of the University’s brand standards across all creative materials
Collaboration and Creative Development
Work with Admissions, Advancement, Academic Departments, and other stakeholders to understand project goals and deliver effective design solutions
Contribute to concept development, brainstorming sessions, and internal reviews of campaigns and promotional materials
Assist in developing content for web and social media platforms in collaboration with the marketing team
Digital Tools and Asset Management
Support content updates within the University’s website content management system (CMS)
Maintain and organize visual asset libraries including photos, templates, icons, and illustrations
Design interactive PDFs and digital forms as requested
Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge/Education
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
Experience
At least 3 years of professional design experience
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro
Experience in preparing files for commercial and digital printing
Familiarity with web content management systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team setting
Desired Qualifications Knowledge/Education
Coursework or training in marketing, digital media, or user experience design is a plus
Experience
Experience in higher education or mission-driven organizations
Skills in video editing or motion graphics (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects)
Experience with photography, illustration, or digital storytelling
