Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner. Follow department protocols and specific radiologist direction. Corroborate patient’s clinical history with procedure; ensure information is documented in accordance with the department’s standards. Prepare patient for procedures; provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Select and operate breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results. Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest. Explain the need for breast compression while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort. Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Experience with stereotactic biopsies and/or willingness to be trained to assist with this procedure. Department Support
Participate in staff meetings with employee involvement. Maintain positive work relationships with co‑workers, physicians, and other health care team members. Maintain an orderly and clean work area to promote good safety habits for patients and co‑workers. Maintain confidentiality with others regarding patient and organizational information. Maintain supplies needed to ensure adequate levels within the department. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Mammography experience preferred but not required. Stereotactic biopsy experience a plus. Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with advanced certification in Mammography is required. Active ARRT certification status maintained by fulfilling continuing education requirements. Illinois State Licensure (IEMA). CPR Certification. Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present required. Knowledge of computer‑based applications, email and standard applications such as Microsoft Office. Working knowledge and skills of a mammography technologist and can perform the daily tasks and duties of a technologist, including patient care and completion of clinical exams. The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $32.65‑$49.00, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
