$350,000.00/yr - $380,000.00/yr Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements

Citizenship: United States Citizenship or Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree The degree must have been obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of completion License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State/territory/Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia Residency Training: Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty leading to board eligibility Note: VA physicians in academic training may be required to be board certified for faculty status Approved residencies: ACGME or through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or other residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States PRPs (Physician Resident Providers) must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged; they may have a limited scope of practice under supervision Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English Additional Requirement: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Vascular Surgery Physical Requirements: Visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity; ability to perform long periods of walking/standing, bending, lifting, and transferring patients or objects when required Exposure: Potential exposure to infected patients/materials; protective clothing may be required Safety: May be exposed to combative patients in certain situations Other: Must be mature, flexible, and able to work effectively in stressful situations; CPR capable per ACLS/BLS Duties

Treat complications from diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and smoking Manage hemodialysis access for patients with kidney failure due to diabetes or hypertension Evaluate and treat varicose veins; consult with other physicians; refer as needed Discuss non-operative and operative treatment options, including risks and benefits with patients Schedule follow-up to monitor prior procedures and aneurysm size; advise on aftercare and medications Document all medical information in an electronic medical record Educate Vascular Surgery and General Surgery Residents Senioriy level
