Overview To help with Thanksgiving and Christmas efforts at The Salvation Army Corps locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation, management and success of The Salvation Army Kettle program.

Visit kettle locations before the season starts, meet with the manager and secure location.

Scout new locations, approach store managers to request the store as a new kettle.

Secure all necessary permissions to operate at kettle sites, including insurance certificates and agreement with store owners.

Schedule volunteer shifts to correspond with the location’s highest foot traffic times.

Hire talented volunteers, possibly local musicians, as needed.

Organize or support efforts to bring attention to the kettles through competitions and community events.

Orient and train kettle workers.

Review and maintain kettle equipment, including repair, paint or purchase as directed.

Create daily and weekly schedules.

Schedule all kettle workers and volunteers.

Ensure all required paperwork is provided and collected.

Review daily reports and adjust kettle placement, shift schedules as needed.

Refer serious issues to corps officer or DHQ immediately.

Ensure cash is counted and processed per policy.

Collect and process employee schedule information for payroll.

Use The Salvation Army required software program to manage the Kettle program.

Prepare thank‑you letters on behalf of The Salvation Army.

Recruit volunteers for Christmas kettles using all means possible.

Education and Experience

College degree preferred but not required.

2 years’ experience in a similar setting; analytical, sales, attention to detail, time‑management, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Ability to maintain highly confidential information.

Reliable and dependable, resolving requests in a timely fashion.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Multi‑task and remain flexible as needed.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Windows platforms.

Must have an appropriate driver’s license and be legally able to drive.

Bilingual (Spanish) is desirable.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software.
