Overview Mechanical Systems Architect / Head of Mechanical Engineering — Location: Dallas, TX or Spartanburg, SC (Relocation Offered). Compensation: $200,000 -$400,000 + Bonus + Equity Potential.

We are seeking a

visionary Mechanical Systems Architect

to define and lead the

mechanical design, operations, and thermal strategy

for next-generation

AI-scale data centers . This role sits at the intersection of engineering innovation and high-performance computing-driving breakthroughs in cooling, efficiency, and mechanical reliability for hyperscale environments.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Architecture & Strategy

Architect and own the end-to-end mechanical systems roadmap for AI-scale compute environments.

Define internal design standards, templates, and repeatable system patterns across all facilities to ensure uniformity, compliance, and operational excellence.

Lead multi-disciplinary mechanical teams through design, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle operations.

Establish design governance frameworks to ensure mechanical scalability and energy efficiency across global deployments.

Advanced Cooling & Thermal Innovation

Develop and deploy

next-generation cooling technologies

such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion systems, and rear-door heat exchangers.

Oversee thermal modeling, CFD analysis, and airflow optimization to maintain ideal performance at maximum density.

Evaluate and pilot

emerging technologies

- phase-change cooling, AI-assisted thermal modeling, and novel heat-transfer materials - to push mechanical boundaries.

Collaborate closely with electrical and controls teams to achieve fully integrated and adaptive thermal-power architectures.

Operations, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

Direct mechanical system commissioning, testing, and handover to operations with measurable KPIs for uptime and efficiency.

Implement predictive analytics and real-time monitoring platforms to enhance system visibility, reliability, and maintainability.

Lead root-cause analysis of mechanical incidents and deploy resilience strategies that improve system availability and fault tolerance.

Oversee vendor relationships, qualification standards, and long-term maintenance programs to sustain performance consistency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in

Mechanical Engineering .

12+ years

of experience in data center, mission-critical, or energy-intensive environments.

Deep expertise in

thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, HVAC, and advanced cooling technologies .

Demonstrated leadership in hyperscale or GPU-accelerated mechanical system design.

Strong background in CFD modeling, system optimization, and operational analytics.

Proven ability to guide multi-disciplinary engineering teams and collaborate across electrical, controls, and operations groups.

Strong communicator capable of influencing both technical teams and executive leadership.

Bonus: Experience in large-scale mechanical system expansion and high-density compute environments.
