Job Objectives The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for the provision and management of overall case‑work services offered to individuals and families in the North King County area who are in need of material assistance and who apply at the Seattle Temple corps. The coordinator also provides case management for up to 14 clients in the Charis Place Program and the Pathway of Hope Program. This position supports the practical ministries of The Salvation Army in collaboration with holistic objectives that include spiritual and practical responses.

Essential Functions

Provide direct service, case management, and community resource development to ensure the full implementation of appropriate services for Charis Place sober‑living clients, Pathway of Hope families, and financial‑assistance applicants.

Supervise the Food Bank Coordinator.

Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Driving Expectations

Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.

Must pass The Salvation Army’s in‑house driving test and motor‑vehicle records check.

Must pass a criminal background check.

Must be able to drive own and/or assigned Salvation Army vehicles (based on availability).

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Christian Ministry, or related field preferred, or 1 year of recent experience in social work or similar roles.

Experience and/or strong interest in community outreach, organization, and community capacity development, including working on community coalitions.

Ability to work with clients from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio‑economic backgrounds in a culturally appropriate manner.

Ability to coordinate volunteers and employees for meaningful work.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English required, bilingual competency a plus.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel).

Major Responsibilities

Provide case management for up to 5 clients with school‑aged children in Pathway of Hope.

Provide case management for up to 14 men residing in Charis Place sober‑living facility.

Maintain client case records and oversee social services systems (WellSky, HMIS).

Oversee the financial‑assistance program: manage applications, schedule appointments, and coordinate with the finance department to issue checks.

Allocate an approximate $100,000 budget using a finance database.

Oversee Food Bank operations, including communication with partners, grant applications, and pickup scheduling.

Meet walk‑in clients and provide referrals and information.

Track and enter statistics for social services programs.

Plan and coordinate community outreach events in collaboration with service providers in North King County.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Direct Services to Individuals and Families

Provide case management for up to 4 Pathway of Hope families.

Meet clients to assess need and eligibility for services and referrals related to shelter, food, clothing, utilities, and rental assistance.

Provide case management for up to 14 men in Charis Place sober‑living program.

Assist food‑bank clients with outreach and informational announcements.

Direct Engagement in the Community

Develop and maintain community partnerships to assist Pathway of Hope participants in achieving case‑management goals.

Coordinate the Christmas assistance program in collaboration with the ministry team.

Coordinate the Rental Assistance program on behalf of the Seattle Temple corps.

Represent The Salvation Army at North King County service‑provider meetings.

Secure new funding sources in collaboration with County and Headquarters development efforts.

Managing Resources

Participate in budgeting and business planning for social services.

Maintain accurate records of all financial‑assistance funds per contract and policy.

Maintain social‑services statistical records and case files.

Provide timely communication and updates on trends and budgetary needs.

Facilitating Integration of Practical and Holistic Responses

Identify children eligible for community service and pastoral care, refer to appropriate stakeholders.

Coordinate spiritual assistance and pastoral care requests with corps officers.

Provide support and information regarding community linkages and programmatic needs.

Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and training new employees or volunteers.

Participate in leadership team planning and represent direct social‑service ministries.

Develop plans to expand the Pathway of Hope program.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional basis.
