As a Software Engineer within Special Projects, you will be part of a team creating new and innovative experiences for human interaction with generative AI. Your team will be directly responsible for developing cutting‑edge, production‑grade experiences across a large variety of iOS apps and frameworks. We work in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment where you will be part of every stage of development. You'll often work cross‑functionally with other software teams, UI designers, product marketing, machine learning, and privacy engineers from concept phase to deployment.

Description As a member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a small team of highly skilled engineers to bring new, Generative‑AI enabled experiences to Apple products. This position requires a self‑motivated engineer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to handle responsibilities including:

Responsibilities

Expanding iOS‑based platforms to bring new Generative AI‑enabled experiences to life

Build features that meet or exceed our high standards for quality

Prototyping and investigating new concepts to support feature definition and iteration

Communicating ideas to others in the team and cross‑functional partners

Participating in architecture discussions and code review

Accurately scope the effort and work items required to complete large (multi‑month) feature projects

Building internal tools to ship and maintain high‑quality software

Design and build testable software, working closely with QA

Diagnose, triage, fix, and prevent issues related to functionality, reliability, and performance

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience required

Strong understanding of core Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, software design)

Demonstrated passion for developing phenomenal user experiences

Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions

Curiosity about new technologies, flexibility, and openness to ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

iOS Development experience, including experience with Swift and Apple development tools

Familiarity with AI concepts or experience with developing software with large language models

Track record of working cross‑functionally and building strong partnerships amongst teams and individuals

Experience working on collaborative projects and ability to work in a team

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
