Pediatric Hematologist Opportunity in Coastal Charleston, SC The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)

Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is searching for a board‑certified (or eligible) pediatric hematologist/oncologist who is focused on sickle cell and hematology to join our collaborative, patient‑focused team of 12 attending physicians (including 2 nocturnists), six inpatient advanced practice providers, eight outpatient advanced providers, and a fellowship program.

The Division is home to the only pediatric stem cell transplant, CAR‑T, gene therapy, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship programs in South Carolina. We also maintain a dynamic portfolio of consortium and industry‑related oncology, hematology, and sickle cell clinical trials including gene therapy. The Division collaborates closely with Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC’s NCI‑designated cancer center, as well as the Darby Clinical Research Institute.

The pediatric sickle cell clinic is a daily clinic providing comprehensive care including transfusion and infusion services with embedded TCD monitoring and counseling services. The clinic is supported by a nurse coordinator, a social worker, and a transition coordinator. The program is an authorized/qualified treatment center for gene therapy. Hematology services are provided in the separate pediatric hematology/oncology clinic as well as additional hematology focused clinics.

In 2020, MUSC Children’s Health opened the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion, a 100,000 square foot, 250‑bed, state‑of‑the‑art building that is transforming the delivery of fetal, women’s and children’s care in the region. Supporting the outstanding clinical care at our Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion is the Charles P. Darby Children’s Research Institute, the largest pediatric research facility in the Carolinas, and one of only 15 like it in the country.
