Position Summary At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, we count on our Licensed Addictions Counselor to support a trauma‑informed environment while primarily providing substance abuse services for youth with a history of substance use. The LAC serves as a positive role model and mentor. A successful candidate will have passion for working with youth from challenging backgrounds and a strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to positively impact our youth and families.

Starting Salary Range

Montana ACLC license: $23.02 - $25.91 per hour

Montana LAC license: $24.50 - $27.57 per hour

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

Conduct confidential, quality Chemical Dependency Assessments to determine substance use disorder according to DSM‑5 and ASAM criteria.

Schedule and conduct Group, Individual, and Family Chemical Dependency Therapy Sessions for youth.

Maintain case records using YBGR Electronic Medical Records, completing documentation per YBGR Policy 662.

Provide follow‑up and aftercare planning services as needed.

Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.

Provide prevention services as directed by the supervisory team.

Contribute to strategic goals and outcomes of the agency, participating in PQI goals.

Work constructively and helpfully with all organizational members.

Fully support and model YBGR mission and values.

Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures.

Identify problems and seek solutions.

Serve as a professional representative of YBGR.

Participate in monthly supervision/coaching meetings.

Be aware of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the persons served.

Participate in required training.

Other duties as assigned, including participation in the CBS on‑call rotation.

Qualifications

21 years old or older.

Criminal/Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check required by the State of Montana.

Minimum of an Associate of Arts degree or a certificate in alcohol and drug studies, addiction, or substance abuse with at least 330 contact hours in addiction courses.

Professional License: Montana ACLC or LAC.

Required Abilities/Skills

Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' substance use history, mental health status, and related psychosocial factors.

Counseling and Therapy: Proficiency in CBT, MI, DBT, relapse prevention techniques.

Addiction Education: Knowledge of addiction science and effects of substances.

Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to clients' diversity.

Trauma‑Informed Care: Recognize and address trauma impact on addiction.

Self‑motivation and discipline; forward‑thinking.

Team orientation and collaborative success.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Values: Faith, Integrity, Relationship, Stewardship.

Certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention.

Clean driving record; valid passenger vehicle license.

Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements

Work indoors in a climate‑controlled environment, occasionally outdoors with no weather protection.

Remain stationary for extended periods during administrative duties.

Use computer, keyboard, and other office equipment frequently.

Move inside and outside building with uneven terrain, changes in elevation.

Assist in physical restraint of a youth (50–300 lbs) who poses a safety risk.

Communicate clearly with clients and treatment team.

Perceive non‑verbal client cues.

Drive company or personal vehicle to YBGR locations as required.
