Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Heart Failure ICU - Columbia SC
MUSC Health – Columbia Medical Center Downtown is seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Heart Failure ICU team within the nationally recognized MUSC Health Heart and Vascular Division for inpatient nights. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to provide both inpatient and outpatient care to patients with advanced and complex cardiac disease, with a particular focus on heart failure.
Responsibilities
Providing direct patient care in the ICU, inpatient units, and outpatient clinic.
Managing and coordinating care for patients with acute and chronic heart failure.
Evaluating new and established patients.
Assisting with peer‑to‑peer approvals and care coordination.
Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to deliver comprehensive, patient‑centered care.
Taking comprehensive histories, performing physical examinations, and initiating referrals or consults as appropriate.
Documenting and billing for direct care provided in accordance with practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
Applying evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice and participating in quality, performance improvement, and accreditation activities.
Maintaining professional practice through ongoing education and participation in professional organizations.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years experience as a Physician Assistant, Family NP, or Adult NP.
Valid license as a PA (or APRN) with certifications including: AGPNP/ANP, FNP, AGACNP/ACNP.
Experience in cardiology and electrophysiology preferred.
Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for adult inpatient positions; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for pediatric positions if required.
State licensure (DHEC and DEA license) and any other regulatory requirements.
Compensation & Work Hours
Salary‑based full‑time position, 40 hours per week, nights shift (requiring flexibility in scheduling).
Special Considerations
Need to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive motions and reach in all directions.
Eligibility for precepting students and supporting the professional development of new team members.
