Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Networking Systems Specialist II to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a seasoned senior network technician with deep experience in supporting large-scale enterprise LAN and WLAN networks—particularly with Juniper and Arista at the access layer, and Mist wireless deployments. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in the Juniper Mist Portal, Arista CloudVision, and a strong understanding of Network Access Control (NAC) using Cisco ISE.
As a Networking Systems Specialist II, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our campus LAN and WLAN infrastructure. You’ll work alongside senior-level staff to configure, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot access layer switching and wireless technologies. A primary responsibility will be resolving incidents and work orders, requiring strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy, manage, and support Juniper, Arista, and Cisco access layer switches, as well as Mist wireless access points (APs)
Perform administrative tasks using Arista CloudVision and the Juniper Mist Portal for centralized visibility and automation
Configure switch ports—including VLANs, trunking, and port security—to support wireless APs and other network devices
Handle adds, moves, and changes in network configurations to support evolving organizational needs
Provide Level 3 support for LAN and WLAN endpoint connectivity issues
Maintain accurate documentation, network diagrams, standards, and operational runbooks
Participate in an on‑call rotation and provide support during network incidents and escalations
Salary range is $100,636 to $122,749.
Qualifications Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full‑time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full‑time experience as a Network Systems Specialist I at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; or
Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of six (6) years of full‑time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
Associates degree and the equivalent of eight (8) years of full‑time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or
High School Diploma or High School equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of ten (10) years of full‑time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in campus network environments, with a focus on access layer technologies and security
Strong knowledge of Arista and Juniper access layer switches, and Mist wireless, including experience with CloudVision and the Juniper Mist Portal
Deep understanding of Layer 1 deployment and topologies, and Layer 2 protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and SNMP
Working knowledge of 802.1X, RADIUS, NAC, and certificate‑based authentication mechanisms, with experience managing these via Cisco ISE
Strong troubleshooting skills with a proven ability to resolve complex, multi‑layered issues in campus network environments
Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience working with ServiceNow, with an understanding of change management processes
Certifications such as Arista ACE, Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent experience are a plus
