Mission The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide for the needs of our community Through selfless service under the sign of love.
Summary The VITA Tax Law Trainer is responsible for overseeing and conducting free IRS Tax Law Trainings for recruited VITA Volunteers. The VITA Tax Law Trainer assures every volunteer is certified at the Advanced Level through the IRS link and learn training platform. The VITA Tax Law Trainer collects and reviews the volunteer form 13615 to confirm their certification. The forms are signed by the trainer and submitted to Catholic Charities VITA Volunteer Director and Volunteer Coordinator.
Position Responsibilities
Must pass the Standards of Conduct, Intake & Quality Review at the Advanced level test per IRS standards.
Develop and conduct tax-training sessions for volunteers on a weekly basis.
Provide one-on-one coaching to volunteers on complex tax scenarios.
Once the volunteer passes the training in the link-and-learn system, trainer must approve and certify the volunteer’s form 13615.
Provide signed and validated copies of the 13615 for each volunteer that certifies to VITA Director and Volunteer Coordinator.
Stay updated on the latest tax laws and regulations to incorporate into training materials.
Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays per identified training schedule.
Must complete all required trainings in a timely manner.
Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
Experience: At least 1 year of tax law instructor training experience
License and Credentials: Must be 21 years of age or older, Reliable transportation, Valid State ID/Driver’s License, Clean driving record and valid vehicle insurance, if applicable
Minimum Knowledge And Skills
Minimum of 1-year experience in: Tax law training
Computer skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
Virtual platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Be able to certify at the advanced level test per IRS standards.
Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and work well independently and on a team
Must maintain professionalism in the workplace
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience in public speaking
Must have reliable transportation and/or clean driving record, if applicable
Excellent writing and verbal skills with proven ability to translate complex concepts into succinct, clear, accessible language for multiple audiences
