The Technical Excellence (TE) group within the Crisis Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD) Department provides technical assistance to IRC’s country program staff and shares what we learn to influence policy and practice. The Health Unit leads IRC’s health programs, the largest share of the program budget, and offers world-class technical expertise and capacity-building across 30+ country offices and emergency response teams. Major Responsibilities Act as the organizational leader for CRRD in immunization internally and externally.
Lead strategic direction and delivery planning for immunization in line with the organizational global strategy (Strategy 100 and Health Strategy, and Immunization Impact @ Scale).
Identify global areas of programmatic risk in immunization and elevate issues to Regional Leads and Health Unit leadership.
Collaborate with leaders to promote integrated program designs within Health and across IRC sectors to increase scale and deepen impact.
Lead Technical Unit led global business development for immunization and support strategic project level proposals.
Lead coordination with the awards management unit to drive fundraising from Public and Institutional donors and with other fundraising teams to meet Health Unit’s priorities related to immunization.
Provide technical oversight of IRC’s global technical standards, methodologies, and tools for immunization in conflict and fragile contexts.
Offer strategic guidance on designing and adapting immunization approaches that reach under-served populations in conflict, displacement, and fragile settings.
Develop high-value tools and methodologies to improve immunization activities in challenging environments.
Collaborate with the METAL team to ensure technical advisors have the tools to implement and measure progress on immunization.
Oversee select TU-led strategic awards, working with regional advisors and grant operations teams.
Support strategic project leadership and resolve thorny technical problems as they arise.
Establish and maintain an organization-wide Immunization Working Group to drive priorities and disseminate best practices.
Coordinate with Regional Leads, Technical Advisors, Airbel and others to lift program learning for cross-sharing and incorporation into global best practice.
Guide research and evidence-use efforts in immunization and support MEAL tool development and data interpretation.
Use data and learning to define pathways for scaling equitable immunization coverage, including reaching under-immunized populations.
Act as a strategic advisor to Policy & Advocacy, Research & Innovation, and External Relations on advocacy campaigns and policy shifts related to immunization.
Drive organizational change through coordination of multi-team groups and effective communication with senior leadership.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders in immunization.
Represent IRC in external forums as relevant.
Key Working Relationships Position Reports to: Global Practice Lead for Primary Healthcare in the Health Unit, CRRD.
Other key relationships include global practice leads, regional Health Leads, regional Technical Advisors, and external partners.
Desired Experience And Skills 10+ years of progressive experience in designing, leading, and implementing immunization programs at regional or global levels, with 5+ years in immunization.
Experience leading programs in fragile/humanitarian settings and across humanitarian–development contexts.
Strong track record of applying evidence-based practice and scaling innovations in immunization (preferred).
Experience with sectoral strategy design, planning, policy, and advocacy efforts.
Excellent communication, influencing, and storytelling skills; strong management and leadership abilities, including coaching and performance management.
Ability to identify and convert business development opportunities and influence diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Fluency in English required; Arabic, French and/or Spanish strongly preferred.
Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
Education: Master’s degree in public health and/or related fields or equivalent professional experience; training in using data and evidence for program decisions is an advantage.
Compensation and Benefits Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates (ranges vary by location and experience).
US Pay Range: $120K - $140K; UK Pay Range: £73K - £83K; Germany Pay Range: €85K - £93K. Specific offers depend on location and individual qualifications.
