The Golf Course Superintendent will lead all golf course maintenance operations, ensuring employee safety, environmental stewardship, and financial management.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities

Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and water features.

Supervise planting and cultural practices for turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.

Oversee operation, repair, and record‑keeping for all maintenance equipment and golf carts.

Keep accurate records of annual maintenance activities, costs, and equipment requests.

Prepare annual maintenance budget and agronomic plan, including capital expenses.

Implement sound purchasing procedures, using preferred vendors where possible.

Manage water usage tracking and irrigation systems; report monthly on retaining ponds, wells, and other water sources.

Code invoices and documents timely.

Enforce all policies, regulations, and licensing requirements; manage environmental issues.

Provide technical, operational, and safety training for staff in compliance with OSHA, club safety, state, and federal guidelines.

Maintain a team atmosphere within maintenance department and with all other departments.

Oversee subordinates in the proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.

Operate equipment and machinery.

Supervise and apply chemical treatments (fertilizers & pesticides) in compliance with regulations.

Hold regular staff meetings; participate in weekly golf course meetings.

Control all maintenance expenses, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.

Conduct employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

Ensure a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility.

Schedule maintenance around member and guest play to maximize efficiency and minimize disruptions.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal law.

Oversee snow removal and winter maintenance as needed.

Properly handle and store chemicals; maintain SDS logs.

Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times and provide outstanding customer service.

Practice safe work habits to avoid injury.

Report all injury, theft, or loss cases immediately to Director of Golf & General Manager.

Adapt to extreme temperatures and inclement weather; lift up to 50 lbs.
