Safety Specialist

3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants The Safety Specialist supports the company’s safety initiatives by promoting compliance, conducting inspections, and reinforcing safe work practices. Reporting to the Safety Director, this role focuses on field implementation of safety policies, training support, and maintaining a strong safety culture across all jobsites. Primary Responsibilities Jobsite & Facility Safety Conduct routine jobsite inspections and audits, documenting findings and corrective actions. Verify compliance with site-specific safety plans, JHAs, and PPE requirements. Identify and communicate potential hazards to field leaders and assist in corrective measures. Training & Communication Lead or assist with new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings. Provide coaching and on-the-spot training to reinforce safe work behaviors. Support field teams in understanding and applying safety procedures. Assist in reporting, investigating, and documenting incidents and near-misses. Gather photos, statements, and data to support root cause analysis. Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure closure. Compliance & Administration Maintain accurate safety logs, inspection records, and reports. Monitor subcontractor compliance and verify documentation. Support safety audits, insurance visits, and compliance reviews. Field Support & Culture Building Maintain regular visibility on jobsites to promote safety engagement. Serve as a resource for employees with safety questions or concerns. Model company values and help build a proactive, people-first safety culture. Qualifications 2–4 years of construction safety experience; concrete or heavy civil preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards. OSHA 30-hour certification required; CHST, STSC, or similar credential preferred. Strong communication and observation skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple jobsites.
